Specialities

Welcome to my practice, where acceptance meets action.

I'm a therapist specializing in helping individuals navigate life's challenges with courage and compassion. I draw on evidence-based approaches like Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to empower clients to build resilience, improve emotional regulation, and live a more fulfilling life.

Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, difficult relationships, or simply feeling stuck, I'm here to support you on your journey towards greater well-being. In my practice, you'll find a safe and welcoming space to explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment. We'll work together to develop practical skills and strategies for managing difficult emotions, fostering self-acceptance, and taking meaningful action towards your goals.

I believe that everyone has the potential to thrive, and I'm committed to helping you unlock your strengths and build a life you love. If you're ready to take the first step towards a more fulfilling future, I invite you to contact me today for a free consultation.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Therapy Approaches

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the cornerstone of both DBT and ACT, weaving its way through each therapy like a golden thread. It's not just about meditation, but about intentional awareness of the present moment, accepting it without judgment. In DBT, it empowers you to step back from strong emotions, while in ACT, it helps you defuse from unhelpful thoughts and embrace your values.

Think of mindfulness as your anchor. It steadies you during emotional storms, clarifies your vision in troubled waters, and helps you navigate the choppy seas of difficult thoughts and feelings. In DBT and ACT, it's not just a practice, it's a superpower you can harness to find peace and purpose.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

Imagine navigating life's storms with both a sturdy anchor and a flexible sail. That's the essence of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), a powerful evidence-based approach I use in my practice to help individuals weather emotional challenges and find greater well-being.

DBT is like a toolbox equipped with practical skills for:

  • Mindfulness: Becoming aware of your thoughts and feelings without judgment, like observing a passing cloud.
  • Emotion regulation: Learning to manage intense emotions in healthy ways, instead of getting swept away by them.
  • Distress tolerance: Developing strategies to cope with difficult situations without resorting to self-destructive behaviors.
  • Interpersonal effectiveness: Building healthy communication and relationship skills to navigate life's social complexities.

Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Unlike traditional therapies that aim to control or eliminate negative thoughts and emotions, ACT takes a different approach. It encourages you to:

  • Accept: Acknowledge your thoughts and feelings, even the unpleasant ones, without judgment or struggle. Think of it like observing the waves, letting them come and go without getting tossed around.
  • Commit: Focus on living a meaningful life guided by your values, regardless of what's happening in your mind or around you. Just like setting your compass towards a desired destination, ACT helps you stay on course regardless of the weather.

Continued Professional Development

Professional Development is incredibly important to me personally and professionally. Growing and developing my toolbox makes me a better therapist. In August I will be attending the SPACE training. This is a training that provides support for parents of anxious children and adolescence. The training helps parents develop skills to better manage their own discomfort and thereby improving their child's ability to manage distress. Stay tuned for a SPACE training for parents!

Let's Talk

The first step in therapy is talking. Let's find a time where we can meet and talk about what's on your mind.
